Professor Daniela Stehlik

Keynote speaker for "Socio-Cultural Dimensions" on Day One of the Scientific Program.

Daniela Stehlik returned to Western Australia from Queensland in 2004 to take up the Foundation Chair in Stronger Communities in the Division of Humanities at Curtin University of Technology.

She has also been appointed as inaugural Director of the Alcoa Research Centre for Stronger Communities, a social science research and development centre with sponsorship from mining and banking.

Professor Stehlik's involvement in community development activities, and the impact of change on communities has led to a number of publications focusing on issues associated with social sustainability, community capacity building and evidence based policy.

She is particularly interested in the generative capacity of women's energy and enthusiasm as an important component of community resiliency.

As a member of the Curtin Sustainability Cabinet, Professor Stehlik is now involved in a global program of research on conservation and sustainability, focusing on the south coast area of Western Australia.
