Authors whose summary abstracts have been accepted for oral or poster presentations are now being invited to submit an extended abstract.

Extended abstracts are due 5pm, 15 June 2007 (GMT + 8.00). Please submit abstracts to medecosxi2007@bgpa.wa.gov.au. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Extended abstracts will be reviewed and edited, and as a result, will represent a valid conference publication. The publication will be provided to all conference delegates.

To assist you in developing your extended abstract, please adhere to the instructions and refer to the example (pdf version or Word version) that is provided. Extended abstracts not conforming to:

  1. the 2-page limit (including optional tables and/or figures),
  2. the specifications detailed in the instructions, and
  3. the example,
will be automatically rejected.


INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMITTING YOUR EXTENDED ABSTRACT
  • Extended abstracts will need to conform to a mini-paper format and will be restricted to 2 standard A4 pages (including optional tables and/or figures):
    • Arial style
    • Font size 9
    • Single line spacing
    • Standard margins at 2cm (top and bottom), with mirrored margins at 4cm (inside) and 2cm (outside)


  • Extended abstracts will be comprised of
    1. Title,
    2. Author/s,
    3. Author/s affiliation/s (this section will need to include the contact details),
    4. 5 Keywords,
    5. Aim/s and Introduction,
    6. Materials and Methods,
    7. Results,
    8. Discussion,
    9. References, and
    10. Optional tables and/or figures.

  • Authors are to bold the title and author names.


  • Authors are to bold the 6 subheadings:
    • Keywords,
    • Aim/s and Introduction,
    • Materials and Methods,
    • Results,
    • Discussion and
    • References.

  • Authors are to use scientific names in all instances.


  • Authors are to use IS units in all instances.


  • Cited literature should be published or "in press". Unpublished work should be referred to as a personal communication. Example: (J. Smith, pers. com.). Please refer to the example of the extended abstract for specifications on citing journal articles, books and book chapters, respectively.


  • The optional tables and/or figures will need to be included within the 2-page limit. However, the maximum tables and/or figures allowable are only 2. Therefore, you have 6 options:
    • One table
    • One figure
    • One table and one figure
    • Two tables
    • Two figures
    • No table or figure

  • The figure/s can include graphs or photos.


  • The table heading should be placed at the top of table, while the figure caption should be placed at the base of the figure. The word "Figure" should appear in full, both in the text and the caption.


  • Extended abstracts will not appear in colour, therefore develop figures (graphs and photos) for black and white reproduction only.
  • Please submit your extended abstract to medecosxi2007@bgpa.wa.gov.au by 15 June 2007 (GMT + 8.00)
